Silk scrunchies are functionally different from fabric ones. The lower friction means less breakage and less creasing where the scrunchie sits in your hair. At 27 momme mulberry silk, these are substantial enough to hold their shape through regular use and machine washing.

Silk does not stretch, so we cut
everything loose on purpose. A true-to-size fit drapes the way real silk is
meant to: skimming the body, never clinging to it. Order the size you normally
wear. If you are between two sizes, size down for a more tailored line, or stay
true for something more relaxed.
We make XS to 4XL. Same silk at
every size. Same French seams. Same quality. Because luxury should be for
everyone.

- Free shipping on US orders over $130 and arrives in five to eight business days, after a one to two day handling window.
If you need it sooner, expedited shipping is two to four business days at
checkout. - Exchanges are the easy path, and
they are free. Email care@tarasartoria.com within 30 days of delivery with your
order number, and we send you a prepaid return label and your replacement at no
cost. Items need to come back unworn, unwashed, and with their tags. - Returns are also welcome within
30 days, with no restocking fee. For straight returns, customers cover the
original and return shipping unless the piece arrived defective or we sent the
wrong thing. Refunds land five to seven business days after we receive and
inspect the return. - International orders ship for a
flat $35 and take roughly two weeks. Because each piece is individually crafted
in limited quantities, we cannot accept international returns or exchanges, so
please email care@tarasartoria.com before you order. Tara herself will help you
find the right size. - Orders can be cancelled or
changed within 12 hours of purchase, before they ship.

Most silk on the market is
light. Ours is significantly heavier, which is the part you feel the moment you
pick a piece up: more silk per square inch, denser drape, smoother hand, far
less prone to pilling. It is the difference between silk that flatters a hanger
and silk that flatters a person.
It is woven on traditional looms
in Vietnam’s historic silk villages, then individually crafted into each
garment with French seams throughout. French seams enclose the raw edge of the
fabric inside a second, hidden seam. They take twice as long to sew and use
more fabric, which is why most brands skip them. They are also why our silk
survives the washing machine.
To care for it, slip the garment
into the silk pouch your order arrived in (or any mesh laundry bag), wash cold
on a delicate cycle with a gentle detergent, and lay it flat to dry. No bleach.
No dry cleaner. A care card is included in every order, in case you misplace
these instructions.

Is this silk really machine
washable?
Yes. Slip the garment into the
silk pouch it arrived in, run a cold delicate cycle with a gentle detergent, and lay it flat to dry. No dry cleaner, ever. The reason it survives the washing machine is the construction: French seams throughout, woven and sewn the way silk has been cared for at home for centuries.
Why does silk this nice not
need dry cleaning?
Because it is built for daily life, not a glass case. Silk has been washed at home for thousands of years.
Dry cleaning is a fix for cheap construction and synthetic finishes, not a feature of real silk. Ours is woven on traditional looms and individually crafted with French seams that hold up to a washing machine.
What does “premium-density”
mean, and why does it matter?
Silk is measured by weight per square inch. Most silk on the market is light. Ours is significantly heavier.
The heavier the silk, the better it drapes, the longer it holds its color, the less it pills, and the longer it lasts. You feel the difference the moment you pick a piece up.
I am between sizes. Should I
size up?
No. Our cut is already loose, because silk does not stretch. Order the size you normally wear. If you want a more tailored line, size down. If you want more room, stay true.
Do you make silk for men?
Yes. Roughly two thirds of our customers are men. Pajamas, robes, boxers, and shirts in XS to 4XL. The same silk, the same French seams, the same care.
Will I have to iron it?
Almost never. Body heat softens silk wrinkles within minutes of wearing it, and a quick steam handles the rest.
If it is sleepwear, you can usually skip both. We share your dislike of ironing, which is part of why we love silk.
What are French seams, and
why do you use them?
A French seam encloses the raw edge of the fabric inside a second, hidden seam. The garment is finished inside and out, with no exposed threads anywhere. It takes twice as long to sew and uses more fabric, which is why most brands skip it. Turn any of our pieces inside out and look. That is not a marketing phrase, it is a construction
standard you can verify.
Is this silk suitable for
sensitive skin?
Yes. Mulberry silk is naturally hypoallergenic and temperature regulating, and ours is free from the harsh chemicals used in dry cleaning and synthetic finishes. Many of our customers with eczema and skin sensitivities tell us it is the first fabric they have been able to sleep in comfortably.
Can I wear this every day?
Yes. Our customers tell us they wear the same robe and pajama sets multiple times a week for years. The density
is the durability.
How does this compare to
satin?
Satin is a weave, usually made from polyester. Silk is a natural fiber. Polyester satin traps heat, pills quickly, and feels different against the skin within an hour of wearing it. Mulberry silk breathes, regulates temperature, and gets softer with wear.
Are these giftable?
Yes, and the gift wrapping is part of the gift. Every piece arrives in an artisan-crafted silk pouch you can reuse as a wash bag, a travel pouch, or a storage pouch.

Who is behind Tara Sartoria?
Tara Nguyen, founder. She grew up near a 1,000-year-old silk village in Vietnam, completed a PhD in Information Systems in Australia, and was awarded the Newton International Postdoctoral Fellowship by the British Academy and the Royal Society. Her research on technology and economic opportunity took her into the field across 23
countries, consulting for the United Nations, USAID, and the Asian Development
Bank. Tara Sartoria is the business she built when she wanted something more
tangible than another report.

They seem a little steeply priced but they do say they are silk and since they are women-owned business, I am all for it. I love that they are pretty and they do not pull my hair and I can wrap them twice around my hair for a ponytail or I can do my hair in a little bun. My hair isn't too thin or thick so I guess it's medium and they fit just right. Love to throw one of these on and go to work to keep my hair out of my face. Comes with a cute little black bag.

I know I'm not the only one that hates taking out scrunchies only to find several precious strands of hair also attached. With these satin scrunchies that is definitely not a problem. They are so smooth and hair friendly, they go on and off with out pulling or tugging at my hair.. I will definitely not ever use regular scrunchies again.
These are good scrunchies. They stay in the hair nicely, while also not pulling much hair out when removing. The quality is good, and they're soft. They are more pricy per scrunchie than equivalent-quality competition though...

These arrived sealed in plastic. Now, remove the inner fabric bag from the plastic bag. Inside, you will find both scrunchies. They are luxe feeling: very silky. And, the colors are universally flattering. I really love how gently these are on hair. And, with that said, these have a good stretch and a good grip. I did not need to readjust my scrunchie throughout the day (which is pretty typical for me). I appreciate this. The little storage bag is a lovely detail. Such a nice little collection! Well worth the investment.
I have super long, fine, thin, straight hair, and these scrunchies worked well for me. I was able to style both pony tails and messy buns without any issue. Although they don't have THE strongest elastic, it's pretty good. Even so, I wanted to loop the scrunchie three times in my pony tail for a really secure hold. Some of this might have to do with the slippery nature of the silk cloth. I don't think I could jog in these without my hair sliding out. So, more for fancy-wear. Speaking of that, these are silky, but not very shiny. It's a gentle sheen. The cloth is thin, and there are a couple very minor loose threads. Otherwise, they seem very neatly sewn. They do arrive looking a bit squashed, though. I personally don't consider these particularly "large" scrunchies. They're not small. I guess on the generous end of "medium." I have a small hand, so they look a little large in my photo. For $15 (sale price), these are a bit spendy for two scrunchies. They do come in lovely packaging (a textured, silky drawstring bag) with product information.
My wife wrote this review: I love what this company stands for, I'll say that first. 10% of profits go to help women and their families overcome poverty. I love this. About the scrunchies: They're handspun mulberry silk and will not pull your hair which helps prevent breakage. They're sewn beautifully with hidden seams. They stretch open fairly far to about seven inches, so if you have very thick hair these will work for you. If you have less thick hair they work beautifully, too, as you just wrap it around however many times you need. Many scrunchies don't stretch this far, so I like that it's good for many different thickness of hair. The little storage bag is also made of mulberry silk. I like the bag to hold my scrunchies in my hand bag so I can reach in easily and find them without having to blindly search around in there to find them. $14.97 is the current sale price, down from $29. At $29, it's a bit steep, but I certainly think that the sale price is good considering the quality and the fact that they give back, and that they are handspun silk, giving people a sense of pride and purpose is worth something. These would make a great addition to a spa gift basket. The drawstring bag adds a touch of class to the beautiful scrunchies inside.
Perfect everyday scrunchie size! It fits easily around my wrist as well. The material is super soft and silky. Comes with a cute storage bag. The colors I got are neutral and will go with any outfit. I was impressed with the quality and am really pleased with this scrunchie set. Can’t wait to wear them!
I have semi thick hair. I could wrap it once and it holds my ponytail. If I want a more secure hold then I wrap it twice. I am unable to wrap 3 times (too tight and not possible for me). I usually put my hair in a bun daily and this holds it firmly and comfortably all day. It does not hurt my scalp. The silk scrunchies don't slip off my child size wrist and hand. It was well stitched. It comes with a storage pouch! I feel fancy. I currently wear satin scrunchies everyday so when I saw this offered to me on Amazon Vine I did not hesitate to order. However, mine are a silk imitation (polyester). This is the real deal. It’s made from genuine mulberry silk which is high quality. Furthermore, this is a woman-owned company that you want to support. Just read their description. In my photos I compare them next to polyester satin. You can see that polyester satin has more of a lustrous sheen than mulberry silk. I would have been fooled. Lesson learned: shinier does not mean better. The silk scrunchies come in a pack of 3 with black, pink, and beige scrunchies. The included black pouch is perfect to give as a gift. The silk scrunchies are very soft and made with nice material. They do feel like top-quality silk. They are gentle on the hair and have a nice elastic stretch to make a lovely ponytail. As I like the silk scrunchies, it’s overpriced. At the current price of $20, that makes each scrunchy $6.66. Dock 1 star for the price, otherwise great product!

As far as the scrunchies? They are thick, luxurious, well-made, and beautiful. The price is very very good for the quality and nowhere else. Are you gonna find a silk bag that can store your scrunchies like you can hear.
Silk scrunchies don’t damage the hair, the way, cheap scrunchies or hair tie as well. I can pull it out and have no hair come with it and it doesn’t leave indentations on my hair.
They are extremely luxurious and beautiful, and I look forward to purchasing more soon.

I am very impressed with the quality and the price as silk care. Ties can be very expensive. What set these apart from other silk scrunchies besides the fact that they come with a bag, is that they are higher momme silk, which will make them last longer, be more durable and even gentle on the hair.
I ordered eight items instead of the two I received so far I have incredibly pleased.

Hi, I purchased these to hold my curls up when I went to bed and they work perfectly! They are soft and silky and just the right size, not to big to hold my hair loosely over night! They were packaged beautifully and with three, I have a choice of color !

These are really beautiful. The silk is soft and they are well-made. They also have a very nice gift bag that they come with so would make a lovely gift. If I wrap a few times, it will hold my ponytail, but honestly they're much prettier if you use a regular band to hold your ponytail and then use these on top but not as tight. They look prettier when they're not totally scrunched, despite being scrunchies, lol. I like the idea that a percentage of profit goes to helping fund women.
I do like these scrunchies because they are nice and soft and do not snag at my hair. These are medium size hair ties and do hold my hair in place. Overall I do recommend these.
These are nice and they work well for my hair.
These are beautiful. Whenever I first opened these, I was surprised at how nicely they seemed to be made and how soft the silk was. They do a good job, they look good doing it, and they come with a cool bag to store them. With that said, there is a bit of a premium on them because they are silk. If you don't mind that, I say to take a shot with them and test them out. I was interested in these because I thought it might help prevent some of the breakage that can result from some other scrunchies. These do feel a bit gentler and I like them a lot. They also look a bit better on my wrist if I need to store them whenever my hair has to be down. I have my hair up a lot because it is so hot and humid where I live. I use real silk because my hair is so fragile due to health reasons, besides doing everything right with it. So I'm familiar with real silk and this seems real to me. It is soft and a good size. I appreciate that they don't cut into my wrist at all so they are comfortable to wear. I have a very small wrist but some others still dig in. It is presented well and giftable.
These scrunchies are very nice. They are Tara Sartoria handmade. They are made from mulberry silk, are a nice large size, are so very easy to take care of, and feel really nice in your hair. They are washable and don't pull on your hair while wearing them or taking them out. these come in two colors; one black and one beige.
