A camisole in 27 momme silk is not the same product as a camisole in 12 momme. The weight changes everything: the drape, the opacity, the way it sits against skin. At 27 momme, it is substantial enough to wear alone as a top and refined enough to wear as a layer.
Made from 27 momme mulberry silk of Grade 6A equivalent quality, woven on traditional looms in Vietnam's historic silk villages and individually crafted by artisans with French seams throughout. At 27 momme, the silk is 20 to 40% denser than the 19 to 22 momme standard. Machine washable on a delicate cycle. Available in sizes XS to 4XL.

Silk does not stretch, so we cut
everything loose on purpose. A true-to-size fit drapes the way real silk is
meant to: skimming the body, never clinging to it. Order the size you normally
wear. If you are between two sizes, size down for a more tailored line, or stay
true for something more relaxed.
We make XS to 4XL. Same silk at
every size. Same French seams. Same quality. Because luxury should be for
everyone.

- Free shipping on US orders over $130 and arrives in five to eight business days, after a one to two day handling window.
If you need it sooner, expedited shipping is two to four business days at
checkout. - Exchanges are the easy path, and
they are free. Email care@tarasartoria.com within 30 days of delivery with your
order number, and we send you a prepaid return label and your replacement at no
cost. Items need to come back unworn, unwashed, and with their tags. - Returns are also welcome within
30 days, with no restocking fee. For straight returns, customers cover the
original and return shipping unless the piece arrived defective or we sent the
wrong thing. Refunds land five to seven business days after we receive and
inspect the return. - International orders ship for a
flat $35 and take roughly two weeks. Because each piece is individually crafted
in limited quantities, we cannot accept international returns or exchanges, so
please email care@tarasartoria.com before you order. Tara herself will help you
find the right size. - Orders can be cancelled or
changed within 12 hours of purchase, before they ship.

Most silk on the market is
light. Ours is significantly heavier, which is the part you feel the moment you
pick a piece up: more silk per square inch, denser drape, smoother hand, far
less prone to pilling. It is the difference between silk that flatters a hanger
and silk that flatters a person.
It is woven on traditional looms
in Vietnam’s historic silk villages, then individually crafted into each
garment with French seams throughout. French seams enclose the raw edge of the
fabric inside a second, hidden seam. They take twice as long to sew and use
more fabric, which is why most brands skip them. They are also why our silk
survives the washing machine.
To care for it, slip the garment
into the silk pouch your order arrived in (or any mesh laundry bag), wash cold
on a delicate cycle with a gentle detergent, and lay it flat to dry. No bleach.
No dry cleaner. A care card is included in every order, in case you misplace
these instructions.

Is this silk really machine
washable?
Yes. Slip the garment into the
silk pouch it arrived in, run a cold delicate cycle with a gentle detergent, and lay it flat to dry. No dry cleaner, ever. The reason it survives the washing machine is the construction: French seams throughout, woven and sewn the way silk has been cared for at home for centuries.
Why does silk this nice not
need dry cleaning?
Because it is built for daily life, not a glass case. Silk has been washed at home for thousands of years.
Dry cleaning is a fix for cheap construction and synthetic finishes, not a feature of real silk. Ours is woven on traditional looms and individually crafted with French seams that hold up to a washing machine.
What does “premium-density”
mean, and why does it matter?
Silk is measured by weight per square inch. Most silk on the market is light. Ours is significantly heavier.
The heavier the silk, the better it drapes, the longer it holds its color, the less it pills, and the longer it lasts. You feel the difference the moment you pick a piece up.
I am between sizes. Should I
size up?
No. Our cut is already loose, because silk does not stretch. Order the size you normally wear. If you want a more tailored line, size down. If you want more room, stay true.
Do you make silk for men?
Yes. Roughly two thirds of our customers are men. Pajamas, robes, boxers, and shirts in XS to 4XL. The same silk, the same French seams, the same care.
Will I have to iron it?
Almost never. Body heat softens silk wrinkles within minutes of wearing it, and a quick steam handles the rest.
If it is sleepwear, you can usually skip both. We share your dislike of ironing, which is part of why we love silk.
What are French seams, and
why do you use them?
A French seam encloses the raw edge of the fabric inside a second, hidden seam. The garment is finished inside and out, with no exposed threads anywhere. It takes twice as long to sew and uses more fabric, which is why most brands skip it. Turn any of our pieces inside out and look. That is not a marketing phrase, it is a construction
standard you can verify.
Is this silk suitable for
sensitive skin?
Yes. Mulberry silk is naturally hypoallergenic and temperature regulating, and ours is free from the harsh chemicals used in dry cleaning and synthetic finishes. Many of our customers with eczema and skin sensitivities tell us it is the first fabric they have been able to sleep in comfortably.
Can I wear this every day?
Yes. Our customers tell us they wear the same robe and pajama sets multiple times a week for years. The density
is the durability.
How does this compare to
satin?
Satin is a weave, usually made from polyester. Silk is a natural fiber. Polyester satin traps heat, pills quickly, and feels different against the skin within an hour of wearing it. Mulberry silk breathes, regulates temperature, and gets softer with wear.
Are these giftable?
Yes, and the gift wrapping is part of the gift. Every piece arrives in an artisan-crafted silk pouch you can reuse as a wash bag, a travel pouch, or a storage pouch.

Do you offer free returns?

Who is behind Tara Sartoria?
Tara Nguyen, founder. She grew up near a 1,000-year-old silk village in Vietnam, completed a PhD in Information Systems in Australia, and was awarded the Newton International Postdoctoral Fellowship by the British Academy and the Royal Society. Her research on technology and economic opportunity took her into the field across 23
countries, consulting for the United Nations, USAID, and the Asian Development
Bank. Tara Sartoria is the business she built when she wanted something more
tangible than another report.

Washed and steamed up just fine. No shrinkage after washing occurred. Really comfortable and relaxing to wear.
This is seriously such a nice, quality silk tank top! I wear this as often as possible. It's definitely genuine silk, and not flimsy or see-through at all. This is so versatile for my wardrobe - I can dress it up, wear it as a base layer, wear it to the market, or simply to bed. The design and cut is classic, including French seams! The straps are adjustable (and stay where they're adjusted to) and do not get all jumbled up and twisted around like inferior silk tops I've had before. The straps also lay perfectly flat. You can really tell that these are made with love and careful attention. I also really liked how the tank top arrived inside of its own matching drawstring bag! It's the little things like that really add up! To clean this, I usually machine wash it and air dry....and it is still as good as new! Sizes may run a tiny bit larger, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! I'm 5'6", weigh 150lbs. and usually wear a medium or large in these types of tops. I chose a Large, and it seems as if there's just a tiny bit more fabric than Larges in general, but that's totally cool! This left room for me to tailor it specifically to my body (even though it doesn't need it). I love that the silk does not irritate my eczema at all, as well as helps with hot flashes and night sweats due to surgical menopause. This would be a beautiful gift to yourself or anyone that enjoys timeless, versatile, sumptuous garments.

I did not have high hopes for this camisole at all. They are all, let’s face it, pretty much alike. Since I was offered this one at no charge in exchange for an unbiased review, and the rose color looked pretty, I decided to give it a shot. Quelle surprise! This cami is gorgeous! The color is a gleaming, vintage-y rose, very rich looking. It’s made skillfully, with perfectly finished French seams. It fits very well too—a good length and no annoying little gaps under my arms. And the silk! The fabric is a thicker silk than any other lingerie-type item I’ve seen—it’s just luscious. The cami came packaged in a matching silk drawstring bag for a beautiful presentation. This would make a wonderful gift or a treat for yourself. I’m going to order more!
This tank top is definitely cut on the boxy and large side, which I don't mind for sleeping in but may be a consideration if you plan to wear this outside. I ordered Pink but I think I got Vintage Rose instead - the color leans more plummy rose, which does complement medium tan skin tones like mine. I appreciated the handwritten note (see photo 2) and the little drawstring silk bag that came with the top, which I plan to turn into a silk scrunchie as I doubt I will be folding the top in a way that fits the little bag. I wish the adjustment pieces were not plastic as those tend to break often for me, but this is a small gripe and the quality of the silk material is nice and thick. I also like the story behind the product which seems authentic - I also am involved in running a social enterprise that helps underprivileged women through handicraft, so I do identify with this cause in general.
Nice satin camisole with a flattering slim fit. True to size. Last picture is after washing according to instructions and it washes well and did not shrink. Four stars because adjustment rings are plastic.
I am 5'3" & 30J/38-33-38 and ordered this in Blue, Large. I should have gone down at least 1 size, the actual bust is 42 inches, it's unflatteringly baggy and so I guess I will probably just wear this as a nightgown. The fit is boxy and long. The material is exactly in look and feel like all my silk pillowcases (coarse on the inside), very thick, washes up easily on cold + hang dry but just like my pillowcases it picks up lint in the washer, wrinkles like crazy, and looks dull after washing (just look at the difference between the sack it came in and it on me after washing...unfortunately I have found this to be an issue with silk in general regardless of detergent type). It did shrink up just a teeny bit after washing but still big. It does seem to be real and 27 momme silk. If you like a boxy fit, I think this would be suitable to wear under a blazer. It's sewn well and seems robust. It's modest for work.
This top feels very nice on the skin. It is heavier than most camisoles. You could easily wear a blazer or a cardigan over it and it would look like a regular blouse. I also like it with my distressed flared jeans and some dressier flip flops. Dressed down casual. There are adjustable straps. It is quite large around the middle. And for you long torso-ed folks this has got the length. Praise the maker for that. The color has a fairly milky undertone and reminds me of the mauve that was so popular in people's houses in the late 80's and 90's. I don't love the color but it is workable. For those with warmer complexions and undertones this would be a glorious color on them. If you wear warm golds and cream- stunning. If you have cool complexions stick with cool neutrals when wearing this, think silvery grey trousers. This is a well made top that will last a long time.

I love this silk cami! It is so incredibly soft and it fits me perfectly. The silk is high quality and feels great on my skin. Cami is true to sizing and well made...def recommended!
This camisole is very generously cut. You may need to do some tailoring to get the fit right for you. It is also longer than expected. Not a bad thing, just a bit surprising. Lots to tuck in, if you want to tuck it in. Pretty color. Decently made.
I don’t have many comments here as I’m not all that learned about silk. The top came with a personalized note and care instructions, which was nice, but even hanging it in the bathroom while you shower does not get wrinkles out, which was suggested in the instructions. Ironing would definitely be required. Otherwise, it’s comfortable.
I have been wanting to build up my capsule wardrobe with garments that are of the highest quality, and look expensive. I am happy to say that the silk camisole checks all of these boxes. Not to mention the quality you get with the silk camisoles, I will be purchasing these over and over and over again, as well as gifting them to all of my friends! The weight of the silk is unmatched, it is very clear that this is a high-quality silk and for the price you cannot beat it. Highly recommend!
This silk feels very soft and luxurious. The shirt is assembled very well with fine stitching and nice adjustable straps that don't twist or pinch. My partner is 6' tall, 150 lbs and 36-36-39, this shirt was snug around the shoulder blades but had a lot of extra fabric in the rest of the body. The fabric sat against the body in a flattering way, but a size Medium may have fit a little better, although maybe would be too tight in the scholders. A beautiful shirt, not the best for people with broad scholders.

This is a very well made silk camisole. It is pretty thick material. I am a large-xl and I ordered the large in the mulberry color. It is a really nice color in person. I ironed it and it is lovely. The bottom of mine kind of blossoms out a little bit too much for my taste in a camisole. BUT I would use this under a cardigan or blazer so it really isn't an issue. Really beautiful!
The color is described as mulberry but I'd call it more of a nude mulberry, if that makes sense. It comes in a small silk bag that matches the top. Very nice, lays perfectly with adjustable straps. I got this as a one-off for my mother but we've since visited the site for more pieces.
Fits true to size. I’m 5’8” 145lbs medium fits amazing. Just long enough it can be tucked in and worn under something but not too long to wear as a stand alone untucked. The perfect addition to mix up any wardrobe. Momme silk is my favorite and this new cami is a treasured addition to my closet. Washes beautifully on the delicate cycle, hang dry.
I ordered a large because I was afraid that the tops would run small. I should've gotten a size medium as that would've fit my American medium body. The quality is very good on this. The silk very thick and luxurious.
