Our customers can easily afford Gucci, Prada, Chanel – all the big brands. But they choose Tara Sartoria for their silk delicacies.
Why? Because artisan-quality handmade silk makes all the difference. Especially when it's backed by high-quality values and practices that see top quality, from start to finish.
“Fell in love with the quality and craftsmanship”
At Tara Sartoria, we take silk seriously.
We understand that silk is timeless: that it deserves care and individual attention, meticulous craftsmanship, so it can be built to last.
It’s why we buy silk directly from artisans in the oldest silk villages in Vietnam, where silk has been produced since the 9th century. More so? We use 27 Momme silk of the absolute top quality. This is over 40% more silk than the 19 Momme silk more commonly used for mass-produced silk garments.
Silk was never meant to be mass produced.
It’s why our hand-loomed artisan silk is such a precious material to us.
And, out of respect for the earth, for our silk artisans, and this beautiful material: it has been important for us from day one to practice zero waste in all our production.
We save all cut offs and leftover silk fabric and use them to make our quality silk face masks, eye masks and silk scrunchies.
The result? Timeless classics that always hit the mark, exude luxury, and are of the utmost quality for customers who want the very best from every purchase.
“Has truly improved the quality of his sleep”
Our artisan quality silk makes a difference in all facets of life – but especially sleep. Due to the high-quality of our fabric, and our dedication to all the small details, all of our sleepwear range hits the mark, every time.
We use mother-of-pearl buttons, French seams for durability (and comfortability!) and, thanks to the quality of our silk, you’ll have no trouble regulating your temperature when you sleep.
Whether you use it for summer, winter, are a hot sleeper or even if you have chronic pain (see our article on how we transformed David’s sleep here) – our silk pajamas are transforming the nightly ritual for many.
While also adding the dose of luxury that everyone deserves.
Plus – they’re versatile as anything! Tara herself sometimes wears her pajamas all day at work-from-home and, by then, any wrinkles in the fabric have been softened by body heat. So, if she’s feeling especially lazy, she just swaps out the bottoms for a pair of jeans or leggings, tosses on some boots, and she’s ready to hit the town without looking too shabby at all.
It’s a testament to the difference that high-quality, versatile silk makes to your everyday life. Including your every night.
“It’s a great gift for the holidays”
Many of the purchases we see coming through our store are intended as gifts. Whether it’s a partner who wants to give their partner the best (and ends up coming back for themselves) or someone who’s fallen in love with our artisan quality silk, and wants their friends/family to enjoy it – there’s no shortage of people wanting to spread the Tara Sartoria love.
And for good reason too. While our quality and attention-to-detail makes for a luxurious experience, our complimentary travel bags and delivery process makes them a gifting delight.
Plus, when choosing Tara Sartoria products, not only are you supporting a woman-owned business and silk traditions, you’re also helping women and their families break the cycle of poverty. 10% of the profit from every purchase goes to programs that help women to be economically self-sufficient and attend university.
And many gift-givers find this puts the additional edge to the experience. It goes further than just gifting a luxurious, high-quality timeless silk delight. When you can give that good-feeling of a better future alongside it? It makes all the difference.
“They are machine washable, which is fantastic so I don’t have to mess around with dry cleaning”
Here’s a silk mythbuster you may not have known: silk DOESN’T need to be dry cleaned! Lower quality silk requires dry cleaning, yes, because lower quality silk will shrink or fade when washed in water.
But, think about it like this: silk has been around for thousands of years, way longer than dry cleaning has.
Because our silk is of the highest grade, produced in the traditional method, you can absolutely wash it with water – including washing machines on a delicate cycle with a garment bag for protection!
It’s a big part of what sets us apart at Tara Sartoria. There’s nothing like artisan quality garments, with the luxury feel and look, that don’t need to be run to the dry cleaners after every use. It’s just one of the many things that set us apart at Tara Sartoria.
If you’re looking for artisan silk with a difference, there’s nothing quite like Tara Sartoria. Thanks to our unique values, our sourcing of quality materials, attention to detail, as well as all the little steps in the process that make everything that much easier. There’s a reason why our customers come to us for their silk garments, and not the big brands. And there’s no better way to understand why than to experience it first-hand.
Whether you’re looking for silk sleepwear that puts you to bed with ease, a great gift for someone you love, or a little dose of luxury that gives you that feel-good feeling of giving back to the world with every purchase: Tara Sartoria is the collection for you.

FAQs:
What are the best practices for caring for my Tara Sartoria silk garment?
When washing your silk garments from Tara Sartoria, you can rest assured that you can machine wash them for easy care. But if you want to ensure the quality lasts for as long as possible? Here’s a few things to keep in mind:
- If you machine wash your silk, turn the silk garment inside out and place the silk garment in a mesh laundry bag to prevent snagging, pop it an enzyme-free, mild detergent and avoid using bleach or fabric softener
- We like to use mild shampoo and conditioner instead of detergent to make our garments last longer – just mix 1 tbsp shampoo and conditioner with a cup of water, then add it to your washer
- When hand-washing your silk, use the same shampoo and conditioner mix as above in a basin with lukewarm water, submerge the garment and gently agitate the water, and rinse thoroughly with cold water
- Be sure to avoid ironing on a high heat

What if my dimensions won’t fit into any of the garment sizes?
At Tara Sartoria, we offer inclusive sizing from XS to 3XL – but we understand that not everybody can fit into standard measurements.
For this reason, our artisan tailors can customize our clothing to be perfect for you. This includes length and width adjustments, special sizing, and pajama sets available with tops and bottoms in different sizes. But we can also customize specific details of the garment – just ask us and we’ll be happy to help!
What does it mean that your silk is 27 Momme?
Momme is a standard measurement that indicates the weight of the silk. The higher the Momme, the higher the weight, quality and consequent durability. Our artisan Mulberry silk is 27 Momme, which is over 40% more silk than the 19 Momme silk more often used for mass-produced silk garments.
